Provisional Cast On // Knit Tutorial

The Provisional Cast On is just casting on your project with a length of waste yarn and then continuing on to knit the rest of the piece with your working yarn. You will then come back later and remove the waste yarn to reveal live stitches that you can slide onto a spare needle and begin to use. There are of course several ways to do a provisional cast on, some include a crochet hook but here is my personal favorite way to do it using the long tail method.
