Saratoga Headwrap // Crochet Pattern

November 9, 2015

This thick head wrap style ear warmer is a super quick and easy design. Although the texture looks great all on it's own it is also the perfect template to personalize with embellishments like bows or flowers. It doesn't require a whole lot of material so that also makes it a good stash busting project. Great for beginners!! This design also has a matching mitten set: Seneca Mitts

Materials:

Hook - US 9mm M/N

Yarn - 40 yds Category 6 - Super Bulky Yarn {I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Fisherman}

Scissors

Tapestry Needle

Place Marker

Gauge: 2” = 4sts x 3 rounds in HDC

Abbreviations:

CH: chain

BB: back bump

SC: single crochet

HDC: half double crochet

ST(S): stitches

SL ST: slip stitch

FO: fasten off

PM: place marker

Notes:

You will be working in a continuous spiral to create a seamless design, moving your stitch marker up with each round.

There are no increases or decreases you always have the same # of stitches you started with.

The first round will be worked entirely into the BB (back bump) of each CH.

Pattern:

Child 4-10y: CH 32

Adult: CH 36

Adult L: CH 38

Round 1: sl st to BB of 1st ch, SC in first ch (the one you slip stitched into) PM and SC in BB around

Round 2: SC around

Round 3: HDC around

Round 4: HDC around (for Child size only skip Round 5 and go to Round 6)

Round 5: HDC around

Round 6: SC around

Round 7: SC around

SL ST into first ST and work invisible FO. Weave in all ends (be sure to pull them in tightly to hide your beg and end)

How I work an Invisible FO: remove hook, put hook through next st from inside to outside, place the loop back around your hook and pull it to the inside of your work, cut your working yarn and pull it through loop to FO. For more on this click here.
