Hudson Baby Blanket // Crochet Pattern

August 22, 2015

I was planning to make an oversized baby blanket as a shower gift for a baby boy but when he made a quite unexpected arrival before the shower and before I even had a chance to start the blanket I had to think fast!! My local JoAnn's has been stocking tons of this Bernat Blanket yarn and given that it's very chunky I saw this as the perfect opportunity to use it because I needed to get this done fast so I came up with this simple and modern design. If you are ever in a pinch and need a chunky blanket in a short amount of time you will love this one! I was in such a hurry I forgot to measure my gauge but because this is chunky yarn and an oversized blanket I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think my blanket came out measuring 38" x 33" > UPDATE < The recipient of this blanket loved it so much that she used it in the baby's first photo shoot and birth announcement!! Woo hoo right?!

Row 1: 1 HDC in 2nd CH from hook and every CH across (63 HDC)

Row 2: CH 1, turn HDC across entire row through BLO (63 HDC)

Repeat row 2 until your blanket measures about 37-38" or 38 HDC rows. I stopped with just enough yarn left in the skein to do the edging. Do not Fasten Off.

{Edging}

CH 1, turn SC across last HDC row, 2SC in the last HDC (64 SC)

going down the side of your work, place 1 SC in the end of every HDC row and 2 SC in the very last HDC row (39 SC)

Repeat 1 more time until you have gone around the entire edge of the blanket and SL ST into CH 1 (206 total SC)
